Direct drive compressors

The direct drive compressors are extremely compact in size and are supplied with a plastic cowl which covers the pump and motor improving the air flow for cooling.
These popular models use a very efficient technical solution whith also improvies manifacturing costs, marking the compressors more available to a wider scope of users: they have the electric motor shaft and pump shaft directly connected avoiding a lot of mecchanical components and most importantly losses of power that may be caused by indirect couplings. With direct coupling the other advantage is that the pump runs at same speed of the motor i.e. 2800 rpm and produces the optimum supply of air.

Oilless direct drive compressors

The oilless direct drive models do not use any oil in the sump. They have a particular design that uses special techniques and special materials with a low coefficient of friction and very low wear and tear that warrant the long life of the compressor.

Lubrificated direct drive compressors

In the lubrificated direct drive models all internal parts are lubrificated using a splash system:this means that the conrod has a needle in the lower part which "dips" intothe oil on its descnt thus splashing it on the walls of the cylinder and the shells of the conrod which are the parts with highest friction. The oil creates afilm between moving parts avoiding direct contact between metal and metal, thus avoiding heat and wear ans retaining the compressor efficiency.

Belt driven compressors

They have a very long life and are particularly suitable for heavy duty use . This type of electric compressor uses the traditional belt driven system which is powered by an electric motor with a pulley, driving the flywheel on the pump. The motor pulley always has a smaller diameter that the flywheel on the pump as the latter also acts as a fan to create a positive flow of air which coolo the pump during operation. The ABAC models are characterized by aluminium head and cylinder with large cooling fins and after cooling for better cooling, larger oil sump for better lubrification, cast iron shaft dynamically balanced, special stainless steel valves

for higher output and resistance. Belt driver compressors are available in single and two stage. The latter having a much higher efficiency and lower noise level than the direct drive models.

Screw compressors

ABAC rotary screw compressors are supplied with a single stage rotary air end with oil injection cooling, this comprises of two rotors with a special patented high efficiency asymmetric profile mounted on six bearings designed for radial and axial loads. The specific design of the Abac air end, with its high volumetric efficiency, allows a higher output with low power adsorption. The rotors, separated by a film of oil, rotate at low speed on the bearings, reducing the wear to the minimum and thus increasing the life of the air end and that of whole compressor. All ABAC screw compressors are supplied

with tree phase asynchronous motor with motors with IP54 protection, a service factor of 1.15, a star/deltastarter housed in an IP65 enclosure, controll pannel and electronic "check control" system, after cooler and silence cabinet designed for heat recovery.

Before buying an air compressor it is important to evaluate the following points:

1 Estimate the total requirements of compressed air for the air tools being used, considering also any future requirements.

2 Assume that the free air delivered is always at least half the air capacity stated while evaluating the air requirements of tools and equipment.

3 Air tool air consumption is always stated as FAD while most air compressor manufactorers show piston dispacement.As an example to calculate the FAD and displacement of 60-70% while for a belt driven compressor it can be up to about 80%.
